Health & Safety
The Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 (HSWA) has introduced new obligations and duty holders for New Zealand. Compliance with the obligations is vital for businesses from board level to the worker.
The penalties now include fines from $50,000 to $3 million and/or imprisonment.
Boards and Chief Executives in particular (who may be personally liable) need to understand the HSWA and be confident that their business is doing the right thing.
We provide strategic advice focused on effective methods of compliance to manage H&S risk. Our expertise includes drafting policies, undertaking H&S reviews and engaging with WorkSafe NZ around reporting, investigations and prosecutions.
Having been involved in key precedent cases under the old legislation we are well prepared to assist our clients in complying with the HSWA.
